Our final event is almost here!  The annual Spring Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, May 14th at the Indian Springs Country Club in Broken Arrow, weather permitting.  Please be sure to thank Larry Brunsman, Chairman of the Golf Committee and his team of volunteers, Jim Sughru, Joey Stauffer, Tony Cristelli, Darin Zanovich, Karen Wigger, Pam Ibbetson, Lisa Coats and Brittany McCoy for their hard work in making sure everyone enjoys this event!  Also, please thank all of our sponsors for their support and fantastic prizes!

The Spring Educational Seminar was tremendous!  Many thanks to Barbara Long, Doug Black, Pat Bowman and Ted Hinson for terrific speakers on relevant topics.  More than half the reservations and payments (we now accept American Express and Discover, as well as Visa and MasterCard) were made online, so the website www.TAPL.org is working!  As expected, there have been a few glitches in logging on, so please see the comments from Kathi Renegar in this Newsletter before contacting her at krenegar@txokenergy.com about any questions or suggestions. Remember, you can easily check the calendar for upcoming events and click on any links for more information. Also, each member will be responsible for keeping their contact information current and we plan to use the website for membership renewal in the fall. Congratulations to Gene Caldwell, who won the $100 gift certificate to Doe’s Eat Place on Cherry Street for logging into the website during the first week!

We appreciate Hans Helmerich, President and CEO of Helmerich & Payne, for being our guest speaker on Executive Night and sharing some of the important characteristics that he believes are necessary to be a good leader at home, in the community and in your company.  Attendance was good, however, too many members made a reservation and then did not come down for the dinner.  Under our agreement with the Petroleum Club, TAPL guarantees payment for the number of reservations submitted and the total cost is almost $28 per person!  We want everyone to attend the social hour and stay for dinner but please, do not make a reservation if you do not intend to eat there after the social time.

Dwayne Allen interviewed the 57 students approved by the OU Energy Management Program for scholarships and after careful consideration of their needs and current, or likely affiliation, with our industry in Oklahoma, TAPL awarded $6,500 to the eight deserving students listed inside this Newsletter. Congratulations to all of the recipients, we look forward to working with you in the future!

I am pleased to announce that the Nominating Committee has provided the membership with eleven qualified candidates for your consideration, their names are listed in this Newsletter. The continued success of TAPL is very dependent on the people elected to the Board, they will determine the direction of the association, so your vote is important!  After you receive your ballot, please carefully consider who the best five people are to serve on the TAPL Board for the next two years, then return your ballot to TAPL on or before Monday, May 21st.

It has been a real honor and privilege to serve as President of TAPL during the 2006-07 term and I am grateful to have worked with such dedicated professionals! Each board member participated from the beginning to make TAPL the best that it could be, offering new ideas and helping to bring them to fruition. I appreciate their hard work and commitment!  Please join me in thanking all board members for their service and a special thanks to those who are finishing their second year: Pat Bowman, Larry Brunsman, Barbara Long, Kathi Renegar and Mona Ables who has served three years, the most recent as Past President, and has been a tremendous support to me.

Hope to see you at the Golf Tournament!  Don’t forget to vote by May 21st! We will not meet again until Monday, September 21, 2007, so have a great summer!

Sincerely,

Bill Creel
