Letter from the President (March 2014)

Dear Members,

I know February is only twenty-eight (28) days, but it sure seemed to fly by this year.  Hopefully with the entrance of March we will have the warmer weather to balance what has, no doubt, been a very cold winter.  However, with gas prices having spiked over $6.00 for the first time in over five (5) years, there will be no complaints from where I sit.  (Not to mention, I suspect, come July, I will be commenting on the heat.)

We return to the Summit Club for cocktails and dinner on Monday, March 10th, where we will welcome our AAPL President, Mr. Don Key, as our dinner speaker.  This will be a great opportunity to get apprised on everything going on in our industry at a national level. I hope we can fill the room to capacity to hear from Mr. Key.

A couple of other dates that I’d like to make you aware of include our annual Spring Volunteer day, which is scheduled for Friday, March 14th and our Spring Educational Seminar, which is scheduled for Thursday, April 10th. I’d encourage you to mark both of these dates on your calendar and make plans to attend. More information on both of these events can be found later in this newsletter.  Lastly, keep your eye out for the Spring Scramble Golf tournament; sponsorships are currently being taken and team registration is just around the corner.

Lastly, please be on the lookout for the upcoming TAPL Board of Directors ballot. On or before April 5th, this ballot should be on its way to your mailbox.  Please recall, pursuant to the TAPL By Laws, only active members (which is defined as those “Landmen regularly employed and engaged in Land Work in the petroleum industry”) are eligible to vote.  Should you receive a ballot, but are not eligible under the aforementioned definition, please discard the ballot and ensure your membership is stated correctly in our membership files online.

As always, I encourage your attendance, your involvement and your input in all that TAPL does. Please do not ever hesitate to contact me, or any of the other Board Members, with your comments, compliments or concerns.
