Fellow Members,

I hope you were able to make it to our November Dinner at the Summit Club. It seems crazy to think that as busy as our Fall Semester has been that November was our first dinner meeting of the year. We had a great turnout for Commissioner Dana Murphy. However, as good as our turnout was, our registration was “off the charts.”

An unfortunate, but reoccurring, theme we have had as of recent is very high registra-tion numbers, with only a fraction of that number actually attending the dinner meet-ings. To this affect I would like to remind everyone that the TAPL has to pay for each dinner that is ordered by your registration, whether you attend the dinner meeting or not. Having such a significant number of registrants failing to show is becoming an ex-pensive and wasteful use of TAPL funds. I understand that plans can change and some-times it is just easier to hit the “register” button than coordinating with your schedule, however, I would ask that if you are uncertain whether you are able to attend the din-ner, please wait to register until you are able to commit. Likewise, if you learn that you will be unable to attend, please let Membership Director, Andrew Grimm, know that your plans have changed. Additionally, please note that we offer the option of register-ing for only the cocktail portion of the evening. Thus, even, if you are unable to join us for dinner, we would love to have you at the cocktail hour. By no means do I want to discourage attendance to our dinner meetings, rather quite the opposite is true. At the same time, I want us to be responsible with the funds at our disposal.

Remember, our next event is the Toys for Tots Christmas Social, which is scheduled for December 9, 2013. This is a wonderful event that the TAPL hosts benefitting the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program (for more information please visit: http://www.toysfortots.org). It is highly encouraged that everyone brings a toy (or handful of toys) to the check-in table. There is neither a speaker nor a sit down dinner, so plan on staying for a bit, enjoying good appetizers, great drinks and even better company. I hope that we can have record attendance and more importantly, truck in loads of toys for the children of our community.
