TAPL & The University of Tulsa to create mentoring program!

Beginning Spring Semester of 2009, the Tulsa Association of Petroleum Landmen and the University of Tulsa – through its Energy Management Student Association will begin a Mentoring Program designed to provide students with exposure to all aspects of the Land Profession as well as networking opportunities. This program will provide excellent opportunity to give back to a younger generation of landmen making their first steps into what can seem an intimidating line of work. This program is modeled on the very successful Oklahoma City Association of Petroleum Landmen – University of Oklahoma Energy Management Program model which continues to provide many of our members valuable contacts, as well as learning experience in their early years. A Mission Statement outlining the details of the program has been attached. If you are interested in being a mentor, please email me (Steve McNamara, Jr.) at stevem@brgcorp.com as …

AAPL Landman Licensing in Texas Issue

In the Directors book, they do show an item on the agenda for this matter, but it does not state whether it is for vote or discussion only (see AAPL Licensing Task Force report 08-13-08 and the Licensing Task Force Outline).  Also attached is a memo with an opposing view (see Licensing Memorandum TX 9-9-08).   My position absent feedback from the TAPL membership is that the issue should be tabled until the AAPL membership at large is given an opportunity to voice their opinion.   I also want to make the membership aware that the Dallas APL has a pro/con debate on its website at www.dapl.org.   If I receive feedback by the TAPL membership strongly one way or another, I need to be that voice this weekend.  I have already received input from two people.   Thanks!   Licensing Memorandum    Licensing …

Sara Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund

Sara Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund   The DAPL Board is pleased to announce we voted to donate $2,500 to the Sara Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund. This will bring the current Fund balance to approximately $10,000. It is necessary to accumulate a $40,000 endowment at the OU Foundation to provide for an annual $2,000 scholarship in Sara’s name, to be awarded to an Energy Management student. There’s still a ways to go, but the committee independently established is committed to accomplishing this goal!   Please help remember Sara and help reach this goal by mailing your tax-deductible donation, payable to the University of Oklahoma Foundation, Inc., Sara Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund #42246 c/o DAPL, P. O. Box 600096, Dallas, TX 75360-0096.   Your check will be forwarded to OU and you will receive an acknowledgement for tax purposes.  Alternately, you can send your check directly to …
