Members,

With the passing of Labor Day coupled with highs in the 80s, our summer is quickly coming to an end. Regardless of the drought and low rain totals that we are always reminded of by our local meteorologists, I’d say we got away with one during this mild summer, at least compared to the summers of recent memory. The end of summer means TAPL is ramping up, and the new TAPL Board (pictured below) has been hard at work these past few months planning for our upcoming events throughout the year. We are also very excited about our new committee members, each of which are listed later in this newletter, and the amazing amount of assistance they have given us so far. Thank you to all who have volunteered their time to make sure TAPL remains one of the nation’s best Landman associations.

While we are on the subject of committees, if anyone is interested in joining one of our many committees and becoming more involved in TAPL, please do not hesitate to contact any of the members of the board. Our association is a large endeavor that is only possible thanks to our volunteers.

As I mentioned earlier, we have plenty of events lined up for our membership in the very near future, so please mark your calendars and be prepared to register for the following:

  • Friday, September 26th:  5th Annual TAPL Skeet Shoot (Tulsa Gun Club)
  • Monday, October 13th:  Fall Golf Shamble (Meadowbrook Country Club)
  • Monday, November 10th:  This year’s first TAPL Dinner Meeting (The Summit)

Additionally, I would like to thank everyone who attended our 65th anniversary party last week. The turnout was great, the barbeque was delicious, the band rocked, and the commemorative gifts were fantastic.  We were also able to raise a great amount of money to support our TU and OU Energy Management Endowment Funds, which will help us support future landmen for years to come. I would also like to give a special thanks to Andrew Grimm and JJ Chisholm. These two men, and their army of volunteers, set out to throw a great party to honor the special occasion, and their brainchild was an amazing success. The party was certainly unlike any TAPL event I’ve attended, and I am already looking forward to the 70th anniversary party five years from now.

Also, do not forget to renew your membership for the 2014-2015 year. For those of you who have no yet renewed, please visit our website (www.tapl.org) and follow the “Renew Your Membership” link on the left side of our homepage. It’s a quick and easy process that ensures you will be able to attend our dinners free of charge, while also being eligible to participate in our members only events like the Fall Golf Shamble. Don’t delay! As we all know, our golf events fill up fast.
