2008 - 2009 Advertising Opportunities

In the past, advertising has been sold for our printed directory, for many reasons, TAPL has gone to the use of online directories, but that doesn't mean there aren't opportunities for your company.

There are two options for advertising within www.tapl.org at this time. One is a "button" ad on the main page. You can see examples aready there. The second option is in our newsletter, as you can see here.

Hits to our site have increased, in just over two weeks over half of our membership have renewed their memberships online. More and more members are learning and using the benefits of www.tapl.org.

TAPL Fall Golf Tournament Registration OPEN!

TAPL Fall 2008 Golf Tournament and October Meeting – REGISTER NOW!

The Tulsa Association of Petroleum Landmen is pleased to announce that the Fall 2008 Golf Tournament is scheduled for Monday, October 13, 2008, at The Oaks Country Club in Tulsa. Please be advised that this event will be limited to TAPL members only and will be held in conjunction with our October monthly meeting, which will take place at The Oaks immediately following the golf tournament. The golf tournament format will be a four-man shamble.

Golfers

If you have already identified one or more individuals with whom you would like to play, then one person in your "Group" must be designated as the "Team Captain". The Team Captain will be responsible for registering the entire Group at one time (including shirt sizes) and must select a payment method at the time of registration. Regardless of the payment method selected, we encourage all Team Captains to submit full payment for their entire Group, as this will be the only way to guarantee that the Group you have formed will end up playing together. Otherwise, remaining Group members may submit a check or credit card authorization for their entry fee to the TAPL Golf Chairman. Please be advised that the Group is not confirmed until all Group members have paid their entry fee prior to the tournament reaching capacity. However, failure of one (1) or more Group members to timely pay their entry fee does not prevent other members of the Group who have paid from playing in the tournament. In such an event, paid Group members will be placed with other partial Groups or individuals. A Group may consist of two (2), three (3), or four (4) members. Individual entries will be accepted and will be placed with partial Groups and/or other individuals. Teams will be formed in multiples of four (4) in order of paid registrations. In order to maintain an acceptable pace of play, the number of participants in the tournament will be limited. This tournament usually fills up quickly, so you are highly encouraged to complete the registration process as soon as possible. A waiting list will be established for paid registrations exceeding the limit.

Please note that all participants in the golf tournament must be current TAPL Members who have paid their annual dues for the 2008-2009 fiscal year. Any registered person in the golf tournament who has not met this obligation by September 12, 2008, will be removed from the tournament and replaced with the next available paid registration. If you have questions regarding the status of your membership, please contact Jane Meyer at jmeyer@ramenergy.com.

Non-Golfers

TAPL members not participating in the golf tournament may secure their spot at dinner by utilizing the website link below. Dinner-only registrations will be accepted through October 6, 2008, and must be made online.

2008 - 2009 Membership Renewal

Reminders for membership renewal were emailed last Friday; many of you have already completed the process, WAY TO GO!

In this newsletter, we included your login and password as a reminder. Just login and renew online, it only takes a minute. You can pay your dues at that time, or if you or your company prefer, you can send a check in for dues. For multiple renewals, have each member renew individually and print the invoice. One check can be submitted for multiple members, just send a copy of each invoice. If your company prefers to pay online with a credit card for multiple members, contact Michelle Farrell and she can help you with that. If you have any questions regarding your membership, Jane Meyer is the Committee Chair, contact her at jmeyer@ramenergy.com.

We are working closely with our service provider to update out site making it even more valuable to our members. We are open to your ideas and suggestions. Our first Educational Luncheon is scheduled for September 15th, 2008; the topic will be TAPL Website 101. It will be a simple overview to help you recognize the power of our website and how you can use it in your daily work.

News from our AAPL Director

For the 2007-2008 membership year, TAPL ended the year with 480 members. Of those 480 TAPL members, 347 were also AAPL members or approximately 72% of the membership. This is a very good percentage, but can we do better? Is there a way to increase AAPL membership within the TAPL local organization? If we can identify the reasons why 130+ TAPL members have chosen not to be a part of the national association (AAPL) then perhaps we can discover a way to make AAPL a better association for all of its members. AAPL has recently solicited input from each local association president and region director in an attempt to find ways to increase AAPL membership within the local association. If you are one of the 130+ members who do not belong to AAPL, we’d like to hear from you!

What are some of the reasons why you have chosen not to be a member of AAPL?

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who are AAPL members. We need to hear your voice as well! Please share your ideas for what AAPL can offer you to encourage your continued commitment and make your relationship with AAPL more beneficial. How can AAPL better serve you?

TAPL Fall 2008 Golf Tournament – October 13, 2008

Sara Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund

Sara Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund

The DAPL Board is pleased to announce we voted to donate $2,500 to the Sara Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund. This will bring the current Fund balance to approximately $10,000. It is necessary to accumulate a $40,000 endowment at the OU Foundation to provide for an annual $2,000 scholarship in Sara’s name, to be awarded to an Energy Management student. There’s still a ways to go, but the committee independently established is committed to accomplishing this goal!

Please help remember Sara and help reach this goal by mailing your tax-deductible donation, payable to the University of Oklahoma Foundation, Inc., Sara Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund #42246 c/o DAPL, P. O. Box 600096, Dallas, TX 75360-0096. Your check will be forwarded to OU and you will receive an acknowledgement for tax purposes.
